The Foro Medcap returns to its live, face to face format bringing together 110 companies with over 150 investors

  • The benchmark event for small and medium-sized companies, Foro Medcap 2022 runs till Thursday 26th, featuring more than 1,000 private meetings between companies and investors.
  • Javier Hernani, CEO of BME, and Thomas Zeeb, Global Head of Exchanges at SIX, will be keynote speakers on the opening day.
  • During this edition of the Forum, such topics as New Challenges facing companies, Energy Transition, technology and the effects of the geopolitical crisis will take centre stage

The eighteenth edition of the Foro Medcap, the benchmark meeting between small and medium-sized Spanish listed companies and investors from all over the world, begins tomorrow. The event, hosted by BME, returns to its in-person format after being held remotely for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Over 150 investors, 20% of whom come from outside Spain, and 110 companies have already confirmed their attendance at the event, during which more than 1,000 one to one meetings will take place.

These companies rely on the financial markets as their main ally to increase their visibility, finance their growth plans and generate more wealth and employment," said Javier Hernani, CEO of BME.

As usual, the event's programme, which can be accessed on this link, features several panels during which major topical issues will be discussed. The Foro Medcap will be opened  tomorrow at 10am by Javier Hernani, CEO of BME; Thomas Zeeb, Global Head of Exchanges at SIX, and Fernando Ruiz, Chairman of Deloitte Spain, who will welcome attendees. During the opening Antonio Garamendi, Chairman of CEOE, will deliver a keynote address. Afterwards, the first panel of the day will kick off, entitled “The new challenges facing leaders. It will be moderated by Javier Hernani, who will be accompanied by Patricia Ayuela, CEO of Línea Directa Aseguradora; Pablo Martín, CEO of Izertis, and Carlos Delclaux, Chairman of Vidrala.

Tuesday's session will be completed with the panel “Effects of the geopolitical crisis on strategic sectors and their prospects, with the participation of Michel Sánchez, CEO of Santander Asset Management Spain; David Cano, General Manager of AFI Inversiones Globales and Jesús Sánchez Quiñones, Director and General Manager of Renta 4 Banco

The programme for Wednesday 25th features three other round tables. The day will start at 10 am with a panel focused on ESG investment, which will be attended by Ana Puente Pérez, Secretary of State for Securities Markets and Financial Instruments Legislation, as well as representatives from CaixaBank Asset Management and Cementos Molins. The other two panels of the day will focus on Fixed Income issuance as a corporate financing ally, on the one hand, and energy transition, on the other.

The last day of the Foro Medcap, on Thursday, 26 May, will begin with the panel “Technology, digitalisation and Big Data as drivers of large-scale competitiveness for small companies”, in which the CEOs of Sngular, Making Science and Factorial HR will participate. At 1pm another panel will deal with the quantum leap that listing on the stock exchange represents for companies. Representatives from Atrys Health, Axon Partners and Santander will share their experiences in this regard.

In addition, several discovery meetings will be held where smaller companies will be able to present their business plans and investment proposals to investors.

During the event's closing cocktail, the nominations for the European Small and Midcap Awards, granted by the Federation of European Stock Exchanges, FESE, will be announced.
